TORONTO / June 13, 2003 - The Canadian Catholic Organization for DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE announced today that it has sent $205,000 to fund four projects to aid victims of floods and landslides in Sri Lanka; earthquakes in Turkey and Peru; and to support peace initiatives and provide food in the Philippines.

Silver Spring, Maryland -- In early April, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) began a five-year development project that will benefit more than 160,000 people in Peru during 2002, the first fiscal year. ADRA Peru's Andean Program for Integrated Food Security Development will address food security issues in seven economic areas of Peru.
Silver Spring, Maryland - Representatives from each of the Peru office of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency's (ADRA) major portfolio activities participated in the government's celebration of World Health Day on April 7 in Lima, Peru. Organized by the Ministry of Health for Peru, the event included representatives from the agencies and organizations that develop health programs.

Silver Spring, Maryland - In early March, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) completed 508 plywood houses in San Francisco, a town located in the Department of Moquegua, Peru.
In 2001, the Federal Foreign Office Task Force for Humanitarian Aid funded aid projects around the world to a tune of DM 131.6 million (67.1 million euro), representing an increase of 13% on the year 2000. A total of approximately 470 projects were financed, of which 40 projects were concerned with humanitarian demining.
