D. R. Congo: the situation remains concerning with active outbreaks in 8 provinces (see p.2)

Niger: the decreasing trend continues with sporadic cases reported.

Nigeria: despite the overall decrease in the number of new reported cases, significant outbreaks remain active, especially in Borno and Yobe States.

Cameroon: the evolution of the outbreak remains concerning as new cases are reported from the North and ExtremeNorth Regions with high lethality (6.7% at national level).

D. R. Congo: the downward trend should take into consideration the low completeness. The most affected provinces remain the Kasai Oriental and South Kivu (50% of total reported cases).

Highlights

• The ongoing cholera outbreak in the North region spread to the Littoral region in September. The North region remains the most affected region, accounting for 317 out of 394 cases with 30 out of 31 deaths reported as of 28 September. UNICEF, together with the national and other humanitarian actors, continues to support and implement cholera response and prevention activities.

Highlights:

Cameroon: Two confirmed cases were reported from the Extreme North Region for the first time since the begining of the outbreak. The risk of propagation to Chad remains significant.

D. R. Congo: continuing decrease in Kasai Oriental but lethality still high. The overall situation is still concerning.

Niger: Encouraging decrease in the number of new cases over the past two weeks. However, the risk of further propagation remains high as border districts are still affected.
