06 September, 2019 | Abuja - The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has confirmed four cases of yellow fever in Bauchi State. Three of the confirmed cases are residents of Alkaleri Local Government Area (LGA) and the fourth case is a tourist who was visiting Kano State and also visited the Yankari Game Reserve in the same LGA in Bauchi State.

Lassa fever Clinical Fellowship in Nigeria: Strengthening Workforce for Health Security

In January 2019, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) hosted the first international conference on Lassa fever (LF) with the theme “50 years of Lassa in Nigeria, rising to the challenge”. Widely attended by global LF experts and researchers, the conference provided a unique opportunity to discuss critical ways to respond to Lassa fever outbreaks and share innovative measures such as vaccines under trial.

Strong Partnerships to Prevent Epidemics in Nigeria

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has a strong network of partners that support the agency in the delivery of its mandate to protect the health of Nigerians. Since 2017, NCDC has been collaborating with Resolve to Save Lives (RTSL), an initiative of Vital Strategies, to prevent epidemics in Nigeria. On the 5th of August 2019, the collaboration between NCDC and RTSL was formally launched in Abuja, Nigeria.
