Four people died in the most recent Ebola outbreak that occurred in a remote, forested area of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This small outbreak (five laboratory-confirmed and three probable cases) was quickly curtailed. Below are five lessons Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) learned from the first Ebola outbreak since the end of the epidemic that devastated West Africa in 2014 and 2015.

BLOG – Mon tel sonne. Je suis chez moi à Kisangani (province de la Tshopo) où je travaille comme responsable du bureau de l’UNICEF pour les provinces voisines de la Tshopo et du Bas-Uélé. Il est 22h30. Lorsque je vois le numéro du Représentant ai de l’UNICEF en République Démocratique du Congo (le Dr Tajudeen Oyewale) s’afficher sur l’écran de mon téléphone, j’essaie de faire le rapprochement avec l’heure. A cette heure, un coup de fil de Tajudeen ? Ca ne peut être qu’une catastrophe. Effectivement, cela en est bien une : Ebola.
