 According to NDMA, 1.3 million people affected, 193 persons died while 31,355 people are living in 512 relief camps in the flood affected districts.

 WHO has provided essential medicines support to 165,693 people through customized kits including Emergency Health kits (EHKs), Diarrheal Disease Kits (DDKs), Hygiene kits, and other supplies including anti-malarial drugs, Anti Snake Venom (ASVs), and Rapid Diagnostic kits. The medicines stock is depleting and need to be replenished.

KARACHI: After a month-long respite from dengue deaths, the city alarmingly recorded three more deaths caused by the virus over the past three days while yet another death — the first one outside Karachi — was reported by a Hyderabad hospital, bringing this year’s death toll in the province to 10, officials said on Tuesday.

The officials added that out of the three patients who died in the metropolis two were women.

• Dengue fever: 445 cases of Dengue fever have been reported from district Swat and the outbreak is being responded jointly.

• CCHF: In week 34, 2013, 2 suspected CCHF cases were reported 1 each from district Quetta, Balochistan; and district Attock in Punjab. Epidemilogical investigation conducted and treatment initiated (Page 5).

KARACHI, Aug 4: As the city received its first monsoon downpour on Saturday, the authorities admitted that they had done insufficient homework to keep dangerous dengue germs at bay especially when it was feared to attack once the season signed off and pools of water remained to provide them lethal breeding-grounds.
