Disaster description

Chad experienced outbreaks of both wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) and wild poliovirus type 3 (WPV3). The WPV3 outbreak started in November 2007, while the WPV1 outbreak began in September 2010 as a result of a new importation virus from northern Nigeria. The last case of polio was recorded on 14 Jun 2012 (OCHA, 30 Jun 2013).
