Mexico: Cold Wave - Feb 2011

Disaster description

Low temperatures and snow affecting northern Mexico have led to deaths, damage to infrastructure and people needing emergency shelter.(OCHA 8 February 2011). The Mexican government declared a state of emergency for the municipalities of Aldama, Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Coyame Sotol, Delicias, Guerrero, Ignacio Zaragoza, Manuel Benavides, Nuevo Casas Grandes, and Temósachi Ojinaga, the Chihuahua state, because of severe frosts which occurred from 2 to 3 February 2011.(Government of Mexico, 4 February 2011)
