DR Congo: Airplane Crash - Apr 2008

Disaster description

In April 2008, a Hewa Bora Airlines DC-9 airplane caught fire shortly after take off and crashed into the commercial district of Birere, Goma in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Some 90 passengers and crew members were on board the aircraft. Several residents from the Birere district were among the victims, reported the Red Cross.
