SENDING SHIPMENTS TO HAITI, JAMAICA, HONDURAS, PARAGUAY AND NICARAGUA OCTOBER 7-13, 2004.

In September and early October 2004, Brother's Brother Foundation (BBF) received more than three tractor trailer loads of children's antibiotics and other medicines valued at over $48 million, to aid in the treatment and health of children and adults world wide. In particular, BBF is responding to needs as a result of the recent hurricanes.

Trailers will be loaded at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, October 6, 7 and 8.

Asuncion, Paraguay (dpa) - A fire at a shopping centre in Asuncion has claimed two more victims - a 5-year-old boy and a 77-year-old woman - raising the death toll to 364, an Paraguayan official said Monday.

Hugo Gomez, an official with the Health Emergency Committee of Paraguay, said the child, who had suffered burns over 50 per cent of his body, and the woman, who had a heart condition and diabetes, had died over the weekend, three weeks after the biggest civilian tragedy in recent Paraguayan history.

ASCUNCION, 13 August 2004 - The terrible fire on 1 August, in which more than 400 Paraguayans, including at least 46 children, lost their lives, has left many families and children grieving. In order to help affected children cope with their emotions and begin their return to a normal life, UNICEF is supporting a programme of psychosocial assistance called 'Return to Happiness'.

The programme ('Retorno de la Alegría' in Spanish) involves play-related activities in four stations: Drawing, physical activities, recreation and orientation.

Two shipments leave Pittsburgh Wednesday, August 4, 2004

Brother's Brother Foundation and B'nai B'rith International are sending close to $2.5 million of donated pharmaceuticals on Wednesday, August 4th from BBF's north side warehouse. A truck will be loaded after 2 p.m.

These donations include 26,000 bottles and tubes of antibiotics, cardiac mediations, pain relief, other medical supplies and will be air shipped to Paraguay with the help of LAN and Green Transport, Inc. who donated air shipping from Miami, Florida.

Volunteers of the Taiwan Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation provided prompt assistance to victims of the Aug. 1 supermarket fire in Asuncion, capital of Paraguay. The fire claimed more than 450 lives.

When the fire first broke out at the Ycua Bolanos supermarket, the Tzu Chi volunteers were returning from distributing aid packages to underprivileged families at an indigenous village.

Washington, D.C., Aug. 6, 2004 -- Partners of the Americas and the First Data Western Union Foundation united efforts today to send $10,000 in aid to victims of a Paraguayan supermarket fire that to date has killed 399 people and left 144 missing.

The donation - made to Partners by the corporate foundation of Western Union - will likely be used to help local volunteer fire departments replace equipment that was destroyed during the rescue. Funds also are expected to help provide follow-up care to victims and their families.

Asuncion, Paraguay (dpa) - As the death toll rose to 426 three days after a deadly shopping centre fire in Paraguay, the public prosecutor's office said Wednesday that it would pursue the strictest sentence against the centre's owner and others responsible.

"The six accused have been arrested, and everything now depends on the law," Eustaquio Colman, acting secretary of the interior, told the Brazilian newspaper O Globo Wednesday.
