More than 200 families will receive support in the areas of agriculture production, employment and self-employment as part of the project to support communities affected by 2014 floods.

Bego Suljić has been unemployed for 14 years. “Life is a struggle” says Bego standing in front of his house, while his children are inside, getting ready for school classes. His six-member family survives from agriculture. “I plant fruits and vegetables. I also have a cow” Bego explains and adds “Cow rules. She earned me my first money”.

As part of the Flood Recovery – Housing Interventions Programme, financed by the European Union, we are publishing final lists of beneficiaries who fulfilled conditions to take part in Programme’s economic strengthening component.

Final lists consist of the households that applied to Public Call for beneficiary selection for households destroyed or damaged in 2014 floods. 3,950 households from 44 municipalities and cities applied to the Public Call that was opened from October 9 to November 9, 2017.

Recent flooding in Bosnia and Herzegovina affected over 300,000 people in 48 municipalities. Tens of thousands of hectares (acres) of farming land have been destroyed at a critical time of cultivation, which will have a big impact on food availability in the medium to long-term.
