DUBAI, Oct 31 2018 (WAM) - Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al-Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, today announced that the UAE will contribute US$1.5 million annually for the period 2019 to 2021, cumulatively amounting to US$4.5 million, to fund the projects carried out by the Global Green Growth Institute, GGGI.
The announcement was made at the GGGI’s Assembly and Council, held at the South Korean capital, Seoul. Dr. Al-Zeyoudi led the UAE delegation that participated at the assembly.

ABU DHABI, 3rd June, 2018 (WAM) -- The value of relief and humanitarian programmes that were implemented due to the directives of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, through the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, from 1993 to 2003, reached AED1.8 billion, which benefited 21 countries, while its developmental projects, valued at AED595.7 million benefitted Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo.

AMMAN, May 3 2018 (WAM) - The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, UNHCR, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, OIC, yesterday concluded a two-day workshop on the Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework, CRRF. The workshop was hosted by Jordan with the attendance of representatives of more than 45 member states, specialised agencies and international institutions participated in the workshop.
ABU DHABI, 22nd April, 2018 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, GWU, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, FDF, who is also the Honorary President of the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, has provided additional support of US$1 million to the Fund for Refugee Women.
The donation is part of Sheikha Fatima’s charitable and humanitarian efforts to ease the suffering of underprivileged persons around the world, especially women and children.

ABU DHABI, 10th April, 2018 (WAM) -- Since the onset of the Rohingya crisis last year, UNHCR has sent 16 emergency flights loaded with relief items to Southern Bangladesh. "Twelve of these flights came out of Dubai, and the UAE paid for the transportation costs of eight of them, valued between $1.5 - 2 million," according to the head of the UN Refugee Agency in the UAE.
ABU DHABI, 9th April, 2018 (WAM) -- The UAE has been named the world's largest donor of development assistance in proportion to its gross national income for the fifth year running, according to the Development Assistance Committee of the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development.
The UAE exceeded the United Nations’ target of 0.7 percent official development assistance in proportion to its GNI ratio by donating AED19.32 billion, a growth of 18.1 percent over 2016, representing 1.31 percent of its GNI for official development assistance in 2017.

DUBAI, 19th February, 2018 (WAM) -- The Dar Al Ber Society carried out up to 15,149 charity projects, worth AED120,829,544, around the world in 2017.
These diverse charitable and humanitarian projects fell under 19 major initiatives, including four relief campaigns in four Arab countries in crises: Syria, Yemen, Palestine, and Somalia.
Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Executive Director of Dar Al Ber, said that the leading charity association, based in Dubai, successfully carried out a line-up of projects for the benefit of vulnerable people last year.

DUBAI, 9th February 2018 (WAM) - Dubai Customs and the International Humanitarian City (IHC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on eLink and cooperation in exchanging information related to humanitarian aid and stocks.
The MoU was signed by Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, and IHC CEO, Giuseppe Saba. It builds on the strategic partnership between the two entities and the importance of cooperation among different authorities to promote innovation, information sharing, and best practices.
BANGKOK, 8th February, 2018 (WAM) -- The United Arab Emirates and Thailand have signed an Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, on cooperation in combating human trafficking.
The MoU was signed by Ahmed Al Jarman, Assistant Minister for Human Rights and International Law at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Vice-Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking, and Anantaporn Kanjanarat, Minister of Social Development and Human Security of Thailand.
ABU DHABI, 10th December, 2017 (WAM) -- The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, UNHCR, have discussed means for cooperation to reduce the dire humanitarian situation faced by refugees and displaced people in the region. The two sides also reviewed the status of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
This came during a meeting between Fahd Abdulrahman bin Sultan, Deputy Secretary-General of the International Aid Department at the ERC and Khaled Khalifa, UNHCR's Regional Representative to the GCC Countries.
