Dakar, 01 October 2015 – The United Nations Office for West Africa (UNOWA) organized from 29 to 30 September 2015, in Dakar, a regional workshop on « the role of media in the promotion and the conduct of peaceful electoral processes in West Africa. »
The workshop aimed at reinforcing the capacities of media managers and professionals so that they avoid spreading false information that could disturb public order and undermine democratic progress when carrying on their freedom of expression.

Dakar, 02 Février 2015- Le Bureau des Nations Unies pour l’Afrique de l’Ouest (UNOWA) et la Commission du Bassin du Lac Tchad (CBLT) ont organisé, le 02 février 2015 à Dakar, une rencontre de réflexion et d’échanges sur les menaces régionales à la paix et à la sécurité, causées par les groupes terroristes, notamment Boko Haram.
Les participants ont exprimé leur consternation sur les violations massives des droits de l’homme commises sur les populations civiles, en particulier les femmes et les enfants.

Dakar, 8 October, 2012 - The Heads of the United Nations (UN) Peace Missions in West Africa held their twenty-fourth high-level consultation in Dakar to review progress in the coordination of the activities of the United Nations in promoting peace and stability in the sub-region.
This document reports on UNOWA's workshop
on reporting for peace, which dealt with three topics - cross-border issues,
DDR operations, and the Cameroon-Nigeria Mixed Commission approach to border
dispute - in relation to conflict prevention and peacekeeping.
The report presents the definition of the major challenges of the Media, and of their responsibilities in terms of people's security, conflict prevention and management, and stability of Governments, that was reached at the workshop.
