Rationale and methods to share information, speak out, and challenge impunity in cases of violence against humanitarian action
ATHA is pleased to share a new professional _Toolkit for Responding to Attacks against Humanitarian Action on the Policy Level._ The purpose of the Toolkit is to offer guidance to humanitarian actors for responding to violence against humanitarian action, in order to promote a more protective environment for the provision of humanitarian aid to civilians.
Ahead of the First Formal Consultations for the Global Compact on Refugees, 14 international NGOs and InterAction signed a statement in which they reflect on the Zero Draft of the Global Compact on Refugees, including their recommendations to ensure that the Compact leads to a better response to the large movement of refugees, greater equity across States, and support refugees to live in safety and dignity.
On 14 and 15 December EU Heads of State are expected to discuss the internal and external dimension of the EU’s migration policy. Instead of proposing policies that represent only the lowest common denominator between member states, the EU should put forward a principled agenda that addresses migration in both a humane and effective way. European leaders should leverage the attention to migration and displacement to promote global policies that are deeply embedded in a strong humanrightsagenda.

In this report we analyse the approaches governments and donors are taking to cross-integrate nutrition and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) within their nutrition and WASH national policies and plans. The report aims to provide a ‘recipe’, or toolkit, to stimulate debate and discussion of the options and opportunities to bring together WASH and nutrition policies and programmes.

On world humanitarian day, action against hunger urges world leaders to uphold their commitments
(NEW YORK) August 18, 2016 —The United Nations designated August 19th World Humanitarian Day to celebrate aid workers who risk their lives in humanitarian service. Action Against Hunger joins the UN and our humanitarian colleagues around the world today in paying tribute to the commitment and sacrifices of our front line staff working in challenging, unstable circumstances to save lives.
WHAT IS A NUTRITION CAUSAL ANALYSIS (NCA)?
A nutrition causal analysis (NCA) is a method for analysing the multicausality of under-nutrition, as a starting point for improving the relevance and effectiveness of multi-sectoral nutrition security programming in a given context.
There is a pressing need for global action on nutrition. Malnutrition is the underlying cause of 45% of all child deaths. In January 2016, the WHO executive board secretariat assessed the progress towards the WHA global targets, and recalled that the total number of stunted children under 5 years of age worldwide was 159 million and SAM affected an estimated 16 million children worldwide in 2014.
