Geneva – 28 June 2016: Nominations for the 2017 Green Star Awards, celebrating outstanding efforts to address the environmental and humanitarian impacts of disasters and conflicts, were called for today by the United Nations and the non-governmental organisation Green Cross International.

The biennial Green Star Awards, first presented in 2009, are a collaborative initiative between the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Green Cross International (GCI), and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

Les Prix Green Star sont attribués par l’ONG Green Cross International (GCI), le Programme des Nations Unies pour l’Environnement (PNUE) et le Bureau de la coordination des affaires humanitaires (OCHA) tous les deux ans. Cette année, les gagnants ont été annoncés lors d’un évènement de haut-niveau à Oslo, parrainé par le gouvernement norvégien.

(Oslo, 1 June 2015): Three organisations from around the world were honoured today as recipients of Green Star Awards for their outstanding efforts to confront environmental emergencies.

Green Stars are awarded by the NGO Green Cross International (GCI), UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) every two years. The winners this year were announced at a high-level event in Oslo sponsored by the Norwegian Government.
