Security, public health and disaster management personnel from across the Caribbean will be put to the test as they participate in a training exercise aimed at improving regional responses during an emergency situation.

The exercise, Synergy 2017, will present emergency scenarios that could occur in the Caribbean region.

The exercise will take place from January 11 to 12 at the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) based in Barbados.

Bridgetown, Barbados, August 16th, 2016 – 32 participants from the disciplined forces, including police, military and fire services, successfully completed four days of training in preparation for their role in providing relief and humanitarian assistance in the event of a disaster. The annual training workshop of the CARICOM Disaster Relief Unit (CDRU) was held at the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency’s (CDEMA) headquarters in Barbados from August 8th to 12th 2016.
