De acuerdo con las cifras oficiales del gobierno de Colombia, a final de octubre 2018 había en el país más de un millón de venezolanos. Esta cifra ha aumentado desde menos de 39.000 a final de 2015.

Refugiados y migrantes han asentado no solo en áreas fronterizas, sino también en centros urbanos en todo el país. 23.5% están en Bogotá. Los refugiados y migrantes llegan con necesidades humanitarias y de protección urgentes. El GIMM coordina la asistencia técnica al Gobierno y la respuesta a estas necesidades por parte de sus miembros.

According to official Colombian government figures, by the end of October 2018 more than 1 million Venezuelans are estimated to be living in Colombia. This is an increase from less than 39,000

Venezuelans living in Colombia at the end of 2015. Refugees and migrants have settled not only in border areas, but also in urban centres across the county. More than 23.5% are in Bogota alone.

People are arriving with progressively more urgent humanitarian and protection needs.
The GIFMM supports the Government with technical assistance to respond to these needs.

Led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility and the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion, the ‘Protocol for the assistance of children, adolescents and their families in contexts of human mobility in Ecuador’ establishes protection mechanisms for migrant children – both those coming alone or with their families – who have arrived without official documentation.

This 16-month operation focuses on supporting migrants in the areas of health, water and sanitation, shelter, protection, livelihood and migration. This revised Emergency Appeal includes a scale up of the health intervention to address the basic health needs of migrants in ten departments in Colombia.
