KINSHASA (Reuters) - U.N. and Congolese troops fought a bloody battle with Ugandan rebels in Congo's wartorn east in their latest move to restore order after the huge nation approved a postwar constitution, the U.N. said on Sunday.

Thirty-five rebels were killed in the ongoing operation, U.N. military spokesman Major Hans-Jakob Reichen said. An Indian peacekeeper was killed and four compatriots injured, and three Congolese government forces were killed and 16 injured.

Since last week's referendum, which paves the way for elections by the end of June 2006, U.N.

KAMPALA, Dec 23, 2005 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- Uganda is not threatened by the reparations to be paid to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) as ordered by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), a top official has said.

"The government is not threatened by the ICJ's ruling and the reparation issue. We shall find a way and Congo knows that they need us and we need them," Minister of State for Information Nsaba Buturo was quoted by the state-owned The New Vision on Friday as saying.

KAMPALA, Nov 29, 2005 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- Ugandan rebel groups, Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) and National Army for Liberation of Uganda (NALU), are causing mayhem in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the Ugandan military has said.

The 2nd Division army spokesman, Lt. Tabaro Kiconco told Xinhua by telephone on Tuesday that the two rebel groups terrorized Congolese civilians after the Congolese army in conjunction with UN peacekeepers who started dislodging them.

"The ADF and NALU are harassing civilians in areas of Iringeti and Alubani villages in eastern Congo.
