En décembre 2006, le 2ième sommet de la Conférence Internationale sur la Région des Grands Lacs (CIRGL) s'est tenu à Nairobi, avec 11 pays (Angola, Kenya, Ouganda, RCA, Congo, Tanzanie, Soudan, Zambie, Burundi, Rwanda et RDC). La conférence s'est achevée avec la signature d'un « Pacte de sécurité, de stabilité et de développement dans la région des Grands Lacs » comprenant la création d'un « Fonds spécial pour la reconstruction et le développement » et d'un secrétariat basé à Bujumbura.
Great Lakes: Put the high-flown rhetoric into practice
In December 2006, the 2nd meeting of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) was held in Nairobi, with 11 countries taking part (Angola, Kenya, Uganda, CAR, Congo, Tanzania, Sudan, Zambia, Burundi, Rwanda and DRC). The Conference concluded with the signature of a "Pact on Security, Stability and Development in the Great Lakes Region", which included the creation of a "Special Fund for Reconstruction and Development" and establishing a Secretariat based in Bujumbura.

L'épidémie de choléra au Zimbabwe se propage dans les pays voisins suscitant une grande préoccupation à cause de sa dimension sous régionale. Other Political crises leading to insecurity, displacement of populations in some countries are still on-going. Diseases outbreaks continue to strike several countries.

The attention of international and humanitarian community is still focused on the humanitarian situation in the eastern DRC where about 1.6 million people are displaced. The upsurge of cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe is also of high concern in an environment disrupted by a chronic humanitarian crisis.

The humanitarian situation of about 1.6 million people displaced in the eastern DRC is still of high concern because despite ongoing diplomatic talks, fighting continues. Killing of civilians and recruitment of child soldiers are now reported by UN peacekeepers.

Problem Statement/Context: The Asia Pacific region has an emergency profile characterized by a combination of natural disasters, civil/political unrest with pockets of conflict situations, and recent emerging new global threats such as high food and fuel prices crisis, the threat of pandemic influenza and other emerging diseases.
La situation humanitaire des quelques 1,6 millions de personnes déplacées dans l'est de la RDC est toujours très préoccupante parce que, malgré le ballet diplomatique en cours, les combats continuent.
- World cereal production in 2008 is forecast to increase 4.9 percent to a record 2 232 million tonnes, considerably up from earlier predictions after better than expected results from the major harvests gathered in the past two months.

This annual report describes bilateral development cooperation between Norway and 30 of the countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East that received the most assistance in 2007. IDPs in the DRC
Since the worsening of the displacement crisis in North Kivu in late August 2007, UNHCR has sent a several emergency teams and launched a camp coordination and camp management (CCCM) coordination group under which manage 15 sites.
When the World Bank published Rolling Back Malaria: The World Bank Global Strategy and Booster Program in 2005, the world had what now seems like a modest goal of halving malaria deaths in Africa by 2010. At the time, many thought that target unrealistic and doubted the commitment of both African and global partners to achieving it. Since then, an influx of new funding, new partners, and remarkable successes in several Sub- Saharan African countries have re energized the global malaria control movement.
