28 March 2016 – While in Tunisia's capital today, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon welcomed the country's democratic progress while reaffirming the United Nations' support to its citizens and Government.

“[World Bank President] Kim and I are here to show our support to Tunisia, where progress towards stability and prosperity are advancing despite significant economic and security challenges,” the UN chief told reporters at a press conference in Tunis.

9 March 2016 – Strongly condemning the 7 March terrorist attack in Tunisia, the United Nations Security Council last night stressed that “no terrorist attack can reverse Tunisia's democracy and its efforts towards economic recovery and development.”

“Any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever and by whomsoever committed,” the 15-nation body said in a press statement.

23 December 2014 – Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today commended the Tunisian people on the successful holding of the second round of presidential elections on 21 December and congratulated the winner, Beji Caid Essebsi.

6 June 2014 – The United Nations has welcomed the upcoming launch of the Truth and Dignity Commission in Tunisia, calling it a step forward in addressing past human rights violations in the North African nation.

Tunisia will launch the Commission on 9 June at a seminar in the capital, Tunis, co-organized by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in the country, the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the International Centre for Transitional Justice and the Tunisian Ministry of Human Rights and Transitional Justice.

Des survivants épuisés d'un bateau transportant des réfugiés somaliens, arrivés samedi sur l'une des plages les plus populaires de Malte, ont expliqué au HCR que cinq hommes et deux femmes sont morts durant le voyage.
