The Government of Tunisia extended every month the state of emergency declared after November 2015 attack on elite presidential guards in the capital. The state of emergency confers exceptional powers on Tunisian authorities, notably to forbid strikes and public gatherings, close movie theatres and control the press.

The fragile political situation in Libya continue to have an impact on the security situation in Tunisia.

In Egypt, the situation remains tensed in North Sinai Governorate with regular security incidents affecting greater Cairo and the Nile Delta.

Islamic Relief is supporting families who have been affected by severe flooding in Tunisia.

Heavy rainfall earlier this month caused the Oued Medjerda river and its tributaries to overflow and the area of Jendouba, in north west Tunisia, has been badly affected, with flood water reaching nearly two metres high.

TUNIS, 3rd March 2015 (WAM) --- The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has launched the second phase of its aid campaign for families affected by the cold wave and floods in Tunis.

An official source at the foundation said that the campaign is being implemented in accordance with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The U.S. expanded its aerial campaign against Islamic State (IS) militants in late September with strikes in Syria’s north and east. The operation, which targets both IS and fighters linked to al-Qaeda’s central leadership and the affiliated group Jabhat al-Nusra, risks alienating other rebel groups in Syria and strengthening support for IS.
