The regional support plan for North Africa for 2009-2010, in line with the Global Agenda Goals of the International Federation, focuses on facilitating the development of the five National Societies by building their capacities and providing technical support to the four core programmes of disaster management, health and care, the Fundamental Principles and humanitarian values as well as organizational development.
Instead of the usual depiction of conflicts as countrywide and defined by national boundaries, this map displays distinct conflict-affected areas in Africa as sub-national and transnational pockets of insecurity, violence, and armed aggression. Areas of conflict were drawn around locations of reported conflict incidents in 2007 and 2008, as well as concentrations of internally displaced persons and cross-border rebel bases and refugee camps in neighboring countries.
This report covers the period of 01/01/2006 to 31/12/2007 of a two-year planning and appeal process.
Programme Summary: During 2006-2007, the regional representation, through increased dialogue, continued to respond to the needs and priorities expressed by the North African National Societies by providing tailor-made support at country level, in the management of their programmes, and for coordination and cooperation amongst partners.
