Plan international France – Améliorer la santé maternelle et infantile au Togo
Stamford, Conn. – Oct. 25, 2012 – Pharmaceutical company Midlothian Laboratories recently donated nearly 500 bottles of prenatal vitamins to help pregnant women in the developing world have healthy babies. Volunteer medical teams providing primary care services in the Dominican Republic, Ghana, Haiti, Honduras, India, Kenya, Nigeria, Panama and Togo distributed the vitamins to expectant mothers through AmeriCares Medical Outreach Program. The program supplies U.S.-based health care providers with medicines and medical supplies for 1,000 volunteer trips each year.
School feeding programs are targeted social safety nets that provide both educational and health benefits to the most vulnerable children, thereby increasing enrollment rates, reducing absenteeism, and improving food security at the household level.
Money from U.S. and other donors helps to reinforce country strategies that raise agricultural productivity and incomes

WASHINGTON, July 15, 2010 - Three months after international donors set up a new funding mechanism to support low-income countries as they scale-up support for agriculture and food security, almost $225 million for those countries has been approved for distribution and is on its way for implementation.
To more closely monitor the evolution and transmission of international and local food prices, FEWS NET is monitoring and reporting on staple food prices in key markets in urban and town centers in food insecure countries. A selection of these market centers, along with additional markets in non-presence (no FEWS NET office) countries are presented here.
