  • Until 28 February 2017, there were 13,439 cumulative arrivals to Italy, compared to 9,101 arrivals recorded in the same month in 2016 (a 48% increase). Greece has seen a 98% lower number of arrivals in February 2017 when compared to the same period in 2016, 2,611 and 125,494 respectively.

  • According to available data, there have been 17,479 new arrivals to Greece, Italy and Bulgaria, as countries of first arrival to Europe since the beginning of 2017 till 28 of February 2017.

  • Until 31 January 2017, there were 4,480 cumulative arrivals to Italy, compared to 5,273 arrivals recorded in the same month in 2016 (a 15% decrease). Greece has seen a 97% lower number of arrivals in January 2017 when compared to the same period in 2016, 1,387 and 67,954 respectively.

  • According to available data, there have been 11,233 new arrivals to Greece, Italy and Bulgaria, as countries of first arrival to Europe since the beginning of 2017 till 8 of February 2017.

The total number of arrivals to Europe by the end of December 2016 has been recorded as 387,739. This is in stark contrast to the 1, 046,599 arrivals recorded in 2015. The decrease in numbers of arrivals can be observed across many of the countries which saw the highest numbers of arrivals in 2015. In Greece 2016 brought 176,906 arrivals compared to the 857,363 recorded in 2015, a 79% decrease, while Italy saw a slight (16%) rise in numbers of arri-vals, from 155,842 in 2015 to 181,436 in 2016.

Les mouvements migratoires concernant le Togo sont notables aussi bien au niveau interne que vers l’extérieur. Ces dernières années, les destinations se sont diversifiées. Mais les Togolais vont de préférence vers les pays africains (80 %) : le Ghana (415 049), le Nigéria (100 428), la Côte d’Ivoire (55 680), le Bénin (45 498) et le Burkina Faso (23 768). Au regard des statistiques, les pays de l’OCDE sont moins souvent les destinations privilégiées des migrants togolais : l’Allemagne (10 219), la France (9 371), l’Italie (4 422) et la Belgique (2 708).

L’Allemagne a accordé jeudi une aide de 60 millions d’euros au Togo pour la période 2016-2017.

L’accord a été signé à Berlin entre le ministre des Affaires étrangères Robert Dussey et le ministre allemand de la Coopération Gerd Müller en présence du président Faure Gnassingbé actuellement en visite officielle dans le pays.

Cet appui vient s’ajouter à la contribution allemande au budget européen en faveur du Togo qui représente 20% du XIe FED.

1 APRIL 2016 - Lassa fever has killed more than 160 people in West Africa, most of them in Nigeria, since November 2015. Many of these lives could have been saved if a rapid diagnostic test were available so that people could receive treatment early.

Since November 2015, Nigeria, Benin, Sierra Leone and Togo have reported more than 300 cases of Lassa fever and 164 deaths. Nigeria accounts for the majority of the cases with 266 cases and 138 deaths reported in 22 of the country’s 34 provinces. Benin has recorded 51 cases and 25 deaths, Togo and Sierra Leone each reported 2 cases.

La coopération allemande (GIZ) a offert jeudi trois ambulances et des équipements sanitaires au ministère de la Santé dans le cadre de la prévention contre Ebola. Le Togo n’a pas été touché par le virus, mais mieux vaut rester prudent.

‘Même si la fièvre hémorragique a quasiment disparu en Afrique de l’Ouest, il faut parer à toute éventualité’, a déclaré Christoph Sander, l’ambassadeur d’Allemagne.

Il y a quelques semaines, Berlin avait fourni un laboratoire clés en main pour la détection des maladies infectieuses.

L’Ambassade fédéral d’Allemagne au Togo a décidé d’appuyer le processus électoral de 2015 à travers un financement dont la gestion est confiée au Programme des Nations Unies pour le développement (PNUD).

Ce financement de 245 000 Euros (environ 160 millions de francs CFA) est destiné à la formation et la sensibilisation des autorités administratives et coutumières (Préfets, Sous-préfets, Maires et Chefs traditionnels) en vue de renforcer leurs capacités en matière d’observance de la neutralité et de l’équité avant, pendant et après l’élection présidentielle de 2015.
