Les plans sont financés à hauteur de 14,58 milliards de dollars, comblant 58,5% des besoins financiers pour 2018.

ATLANTA — Just 28 human cases of Guinea worm disease were reported in 2018, down slightly from 30 cases reported in 2017. When The Carter Center assumed leadership of the Guinea Worm Eradication Program in 1986, there were an estimated 3.5 million human cases annually in 21 countries in Africa and Asia.

Le 11 janvier, les autorités ont prolongé de six mois l’état d’urgence dans plusieurs provinces du nord du pays, où les attaques de groupes armés se sont multipliées ces derniers mois, dont l’une ayant fait12 morts le 10 janvier. L'état d'urgence prolongé aura probablement un impact sur l'accès des groupes d'aide et des populations des zones touchées. La violence a déplacé plus de 5 000 personnes au cours de la semaine écoulée.

STATE OF EMERGENCY EXTENDED OVER INSECURITY

The authorities on 11 January extended by six months the state of emergency in several northern provinces where attacks by armed groups have surged in recent months, including one on 10 January that killed 12 people. The extended state of emergency is likely to have an impact on access by aid groups and populations of the affected areas. The violence has displaced more than 5,000 people over the past week.

At the end of December 2018, 21 Humanitarian Response Plans (HRP) and the Syria Regional Response Plan (3RP) required US$24.93 billion to assist 97.9 million people in urgent need of humanitarian support. The requirements remained unchanged as of the end of November 2018. The plans are funded at $14.58 billion which amounts to 58.5 per cent of financial requirements for 2018. Notably, the percentage of total funding contributed through humanitarian response plans carried out by the UN with partners in 2018 is estimated at 62.9%.
