The Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET) monitors trends in staple food prices in countries vulnerable to food insecurity. For each FEWS NET country and region, the Price Bulletin provides a set of charts showing monthly prices in the current marketing year in selected urban centers and allowing users to compare current trends with both five-year average prices, indicative of seasonal trends, and prices in the previous year.

MIGRANT BASELINE

The 21th round of data collection took place in July and August 2018. During this round a revised version of the data collection methodology was used to capture additional information on the needs and challenges migrants are facing.

DTM identified there to be at least 669,176 migrants in Libya. Migrants were identified in all baladiyas, within 554 communities and originated from more than 41 countries.

Case study information was collated from African, Middle Eastern, South Asian and Caribbean countries. Persistent instability in northern and central Mali, violence and insecurity across the Lake Chad Basin and the impact of the conflict in the Central African Republic continue to cause population displacements and hinder the return of displaced people. Around 3.6 million people have been forced to flee their homes to other localities or across borders, and 2.3 million having returned to or near their homes are struggling to rebuild their lives.
