L’OIM travaille avec les autorités nationales et locales et des partenaires locaux pour identifier et comprendre les mouvements migratoires en Afrique de l’Ouest et du Centre. Le suivi des flux de population (FMP) est une activité qui permet de quantifier et de qualifier les flux, les profils des migrants, les tendances et les routes migratoires sur un point d’entrée, de transit ou de sortie donné. Depuis février 2016, l'OIM Niger effectue un suivi des flux migratoires sur deux points dans la région d'Agadez au Niger à Séguédine et à Arlit.

1. INTRODUCTION

IOM works with national and local authorities, as well as community-based organizations, to better understand migration movements in West and Central Africa. Using tools from the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) - the flow monitoring registry (FMR) and survey (FMS) - teams of enumerators work in major transit areas to monitor intra- and interregional migration movements.

SITUATION. Une reproduction a petite echelle a eu lieu dans le centre de I'Algerie, cependant que des ailes Oars etaient presents dans le sud-est de la Mauritanie et rest du Tchad.

PREVISIONS. Une reproduction a petite echelle entrainera une legere augmentation des effectifs acridiens dans le Sahel septentrional de Mauritanie, du Mali, du Niger, du Tchad et du sud de I'Algerie. On ne s'attend a aucun developpement significatif.

REGION CENTRALE: CALME

Africa Weather Hazards

  1. Weeks of abovenormal rainfall have caused river levels to rise.
    This includes the Volta River, where water has been released from the Bagre Dam in Burkina Faso causing downstream flooding.

  2. Above-average rainfall has damaged infrastructure and caused fatalities in Sudan. Continuing rainfall may trigger additional floods through early September.

POPULATION MOBILITY OVERVIEW

Three major mobility patterns shaped West and Central African flows in the last three months. The first is a pattern of forced internal displacement flows, mainly as a result of the Lake Chad Basin Crisis. The Crisis directly affecting nearly 4 million persons with more than 2.27 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) and 1.49 million returns in Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Niger.

CALM SITUATION. Isolated adults were present in central and eastern Algeria. FORECAST. Small-scale breeding will occur in the northern Sahel of Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Chad and southern Algeria with very low numbers of hoppers appearing. No significant developments are likely.
