October 14, 2018 (JUBA) - South Africa’s Deputy President David Mabuza arrived in Juba on Sunday for talks with President Salva Kiir on the implementation of South Sudan revitalized peace agreement.
Mabuza was received at Juba airport by the Minister in the Office of the President Mayiik Ayii Deng who told the press that the South African guest comes as a special envoy of South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa.
September 25, 2018 (WAU) - Wau State government official has strongly condemned an SPLM-IO attack on a military convoy escorting Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to their home area in Besselia County.
Speaking to the media in Wau on Tuesday morning, the State Minister for Local Government, Law Enforcement Agencies and Parliamentary Affairs, Arkangelo Anayar Anyar condemned the attack, which he blamed on the rebels.
September 25, 2018 (JUBA) - President Salva Kiir has ordered the army and security organs to fully observe the ceasefire agreement which still faces some breaches in Unity and Equatoria 13 days after the signing of the revitalized peace agreement.
The South Sudanese leader made his directive during a meeting of the National Security Council at the presidency in Juba on Tuesday attended by the senior military and security officials to discuss the situation on the country two weeks the start of the implementation of the security arrangements.
September 23, 2018 (GULU) – A group of refugees living in Uganda have appealed to South Sudan’s warring factions to ensure the recently signed peace agreement is fully implemented.
The group, which comprised of 20 youth, were deliberating at a one-day workshop organized by Remembering Ones We Lost (ROWL) on the theme ‘Youth dialogue on sustainable peace in South Sudan’.
September 22, 2018 (JUBA) - The SPLM-IO National Liberation Council (SPLM-IO NCL) Saturday endorsed the revitalized peace agreement paving the way for the group leader to take part in the implementation pre-transitional period process which will begin soon.
In a statement released Saturday, the NCL said it held a two-day meeting in Khartoum from 21 to 22 September to deliberate and ratify the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan which was signed on 12 September.
September 17, 2018 (KHARTOUM) - The protection unit at Sudan’s Commission of Refugees (SCR) has demanded the international community to support the refugees in the east African nation saying Sudan has met all its international commitments towards them.
The director of SCR protection unit in the eastern states Al-Sir Khaled said the registered number of refugees in eastern Sudan camps is over 90,000 refugees.
September 5, 2018 (KHARTOUM) - Sudanese President Omer al-Bashir and his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni Wednesday discussed the South Sudan peace process in a meeting held on the sidelines of the China-Africa cooperation forum in Beijing.
The meeting dealt with the progress achieved in the negotiations to revitalize the agreement for peace in the Republic of South Sudan, which was initialled by the parties, said the official news agency SUNA.
September 2, 2018 (KHARTOUM) - The South Sudanese parties Sunday resumed discussions on the final matrix for the implementation of the revitalized agreement for the resolution of the conflict in South Sudan.
On Saturday the mediation divided the parties into three committees and gave them the draft of the implementation matrix.
the first committee will deal with the chapters 1, 2 and 5 while the second panel will discuss the chapters 4, 6, 8 and the third committee was dedicated to the security arrangements and the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.
August 31, 2018 (JUBA) - Another member of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) distanced itself from the coalition and rejected the signing of the final document of the revitalised peace agreement by its leader.
The National Salvation Front (NAS) of General Thomas Cirillo has joined the People’s Democratic Movement (PDM) and the SPLM- Former Political Detainees - FDs, which also refused marked their rejection of the draft peace agreement.
August 26, 2018 (KHARTOUM) – The South Darfur state implored upon South Sudan government to provide support to sites hosting 50,000 refugees who fled the conflict in the war-torn nation.

August 20, 2018 (KHARTOUM/JUBA) - South Sudan peace talks will resume within five days announced the Sudanese chief mediator in order to conclude the final phase of the peace revitalization process in Khartoum.
The mediation sought to bring the parties to sign on Monday the agreement on the bracketed issues, Article 4 and the implementation matrix but the SPLM-IO handed over its observations on the draft filed by the mediation only on Monday at 06: pm.
August 13, 2018 (KHARTOUM/JUBA) - The IGAD mediation has formally launched in Khartoum the final phase of talks on the pending issues and the modalities of implementation of the revitalized peace agreement, as they have one week to finalize their discussions before the 19 of August.
August 11, 2018 (JUBA) - Talks on the final implementation matrix and the review of several issues in the signed governance agreement will resume on Sunday, said the South Sudanese government spokesperson Michael Makuei Lueth.
In a meeting held in Khartoum on Friday, the IGAD Council of Ministers adopted a draft matrix on the remaining items for the final document of a revitalized peace agreement. The meeting further decided to extend the talks in Khartoum until the 19 of August.
August 5, 2018 (KHARTOUM) - President Salva Kiir and key South Sudanese opposition leaders without exception have appended their signature on the agreements on governance on Sunday putting aside their concerns over the power-sharing and number of states.
The South Sudan Opposition Alliance and the FDs surprisingly were among the signatories of the agreement on the outstanding issues on governance without reservations.
August 1, 2018 (KHARTOUM) Sudan’s Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) on Wednesday said a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deliver food assistance to South Sudan has been extended for another six months.
In July 2014, Juba and Khartoum signed a MoU to open a humanitarian corridor to deliver food assistance to vulnerable South Sudanese through the River Nile or by road. Last January, the agreement was extended for a six month period.
July 31, 2018 (KAMPALA) - South Sudan minister for environment and forestry, Josephine N’apwon has commended Uganda for the hospitality rendered to its refugees settled in the East African nation.
“Since the first war broke in Sudan, a number of people have crossed into Uganda as refugees,” said the minister.
She said hospitality provided by the Ugandan government has enabled South Sudanese children to attend school and the rest have settled and access healthcare from existing health facilities.
July 25, 2018 (KHARTOUM/JUBA) - The mediators handed over to the South Sudanese negotiating delegations a new draft agreement on the governance chapter that amended the composition of the on the states boundaries mechanism but keeps the power-sharing at the local government level.
July 16, 2018 (KHARTOUM) - South Kordofan State is hosting 40,000 South Sudanese refugees, said Minister of Welfare and Social Affairs Awadiya Basha,
Speaking at a workshop on refugee laws on Sunday, Basha said the government of South Kordofan is committed to granting refugees status for foreign nationals who reach its territory according to international laws.
She said South Sudanese refugees enjoy the state’s limited services including food, health and water, pointing to strong and old relations between the refugees and the residents of the state.

In the abandoned town and villages of Pageri County, community members are gradually and voluntarily returning from refugee camps in Uganda and Kenya. Over 300 returnees have resettled in Pageri in recent months, after having fled the area following the crisis in 2016.
The people of Pageri have cited the occupation of cattle from the Jonglei region, and the distrustful relationship between them and the army’s Tiger battalion, as hindrances to their return.
July 7, 2018 (JUBA) – At least 25 people died in a sectional fight that erupted in Akobo on Friday between two sub-clans, officials said in a statement.
"We the members of Akobo county in Ethiopia are deeply disturbed by the outbreak of sectional fighting between Chie-Yol and Chie-Nyak of Moor sub-clan of Lou Nuer,” partly reads the statement Sudan Tribune obtained.
The two sub-clans are the biggest within the Lou Nuer tribe.
The clash was a revenge attack allegedly carried out by the Chie-Nyak sub-clan after their men were killed by attackers from Chie-Yol.
