• Since the last update (of 9 February 2018), no new suspect human RVF cases have been reported in Yirol East. However, two alerts were reported during the week, but the case-based details were not available at the time of writing this update.

• There are currently no suspect human cases on admission in Yirol East.

• Human RVF alerts in Eastern Lakes have continued on a steady decline in the last four weeks.

Situation update

• Since the last update (of 2 February 2018), two new suspect human RVF cases have been reported in Yirol East. These include a 33-year-old female and a 30-year-old male from Yali payam in Yirol East.

• There are currently no suspect human cases on admission in Yirol East.

• The number of human RVF alerts in Eastern Lakes have continued on a steady decline in the last three weeks.

  • Since the last update (of 26 January 2018), six new suspect RVF cases have been reported in Yirol East. These include two males and four females aged 7-60 years, and clustered in Wonthow payam, Yirol East county. There are currently no suspect cases on admission.

Epidemic Trends and Updates
- There is no active cholera transmission in any of the 24 counties where cholera has been confirmed in 2017.
- Two confirmed cases reported retrospectively in Juba in week 50 and are consistent with sporadic transmission.
- Current activities entail – updating cholera plan, catching up on pending second round oral cholera vaccine campaigns, and addressing the underlying risk factors by improving access to safe water and improved sanitation facilities.

These include one male and four females aged 3-26 years, two of whom are still hospitalised (but ready for discharge) from the treatment facility in Yirol East. Their blood samples have been collected and are in the process of being shipped to Juba en route to Entebbe, UVRI for testing.

• Since the last update (of 14 January 2018), five new suspect RVF cases have been reported in Yirol East. These include two males and three females aged 7-32 years, one of whom is still hospitalised in the treatment facility in Yirol East.
Their blood samples have been collected and are in the process of being shipped to Juba en route to Entebbe, UVRI for testing.

Situation Update
- Since the last update, one suspect case (a 14-year-old girl) was admitted in the treatment facility in Yirol West with fever and conjunctival injection. She is from Arwa Village in Yirol West (not Yirol East like the suspect cases reported previously) and has no linkage with the cases reported previously. Sample was collected and shipped for testing.

Situation update

• There are no new suspect cases reported since the last update. Surveillance for suspect cases is ongoing and contacts are being followed.

• On 28 December 2017, the Eastern Lakes Ministry of Health reported a suspect viral hemorrhagic fever cluster to the National Ministry of Health and WHO. The initial cluster involved three deaths in Thonabutkok village, Yali Payam, Yirol East county with 7 December 2017 as the earliest date of onset.
