This week the Italian Development Cooperation (IDC) in collaboration with UNOPS announced a donation of two vehicles to the Italian NGO, Doctors with Africa, CUAMM

CUAMM has been supporting the strengthening of local health systems in South Sudan since 2007, helping to improve the delivery of basic and emergency healthcare services across the country.Dr. Dario Mariani, an IDC representative, attended the handover event in the presence of UNOPS Head of Programme, Richard Martin Schroeder, and CUAMM Deputy Country Manager, Paolo Ferrari.

Mingkaman, South Sudan, April 28, 2016 – The Government of Japan and the Ministry of Transportation, Roads and Bridges jointly inaugurated today a river port in Mingkaman, Awerial County. The $4.1 million port facility, funded by the people of Japan and implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), will expand the capacity to provide life-saving supplies to South Sudan’s civilian population, particularly those people affected by displacement after the 2013 conflict.

• Equipment mobilized by contractor: to date: 2 excavators, 1 front-end loader, 1 grader, 1 roller, & 2 tippers.

• Murram extraction and processing on road continued in the week.

Lakes State

Mingkaman IDP settlement sites:

• Drainage excavation and installation of pre-cast concrete pipe culverts in road crossings progressed satisfactorily in all 3 campsites.
