Concludes Interactive Dialogue on South Sudan

GENEVA (23 March 2016) - The Human Rights Council this morning held separate interactive dialogues with Gustavo Gallón, Independent Expert on the situation of human rights in Haiti, and with Suliman Baldo, Independent Expert on the situation of human rights in Mali. It also concluded its interactive dialogue on the situation of human rights in South Sudan.

Genève, le 27 Novembre 2015- Le PNUD a réalisé des réductions importantes du prix des médicaments contre le VIH qu'il procure. L’organisation a réussi à faire baisser, sans précédent, le coût du traitement de 100 $ par patient et par an en Haïti et d’autres pays comme la Guinée équatoriale, le Mali, le Soudan du Sud, Zambie et Zimbabwe. Grâce à ces réductions de prix le PNUD permet d'économiser 25 millions $ qui sont utilisés pour mettre plus de 250.000 personnes sous ce traitement salvateur contre le VIH.

April 4, 2012— Dr. Aaron Harries got the “travel bug” young—listening to his high school teacher reminisce about his own journeys in the 1970s. At age 17, Aaron organized a trip for 3 of his friends to backpack across Europe for 5 weeks. He went on to become a doctor and extend his love of travel to volunteer medical trips in post-crisis and developing countries. Aaron, now age 36, has been to over 70 countries—including 3 trips volunteering with International Medical Corps.

The GLCSC is housed in the Logistics Division of the UN World Food Programme, the Global Logistics Cluster Lead. It is comprised of a diverse, multi-skilled group of logisticians, currently drawn from ACF, Care Canada, MSB (formerly SRSA), Save the Children, and WFP. Previously, the GLCSC has included representation from Care International and WVI.

As the Fifth Committee (Administrative and Budgetary) scrutinized the budget proposals today for 10 peacekeeping operations for the fiscal year 2012/13, several delegates argued against across-the-board cuts and warned that reductions in Haiti, Côte d’Ivoire, South Sudan and Kosovo could jeopardize the ability of the “blue helmets” in those countries to implement their mandates.

Ces fonds aideront à sauver des vies. J'espère que davantage de fonds seront rendus disponibles par des gouvernements et d'autres bailleurs de fonds pour soutenir nos interventions humanitaires », a déclaré Mme Amos.

HAITI: BUILDING HOMES

The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) and Eglise Methodiste d’Hait (EMH) are working together to build 40 homes in two communities that were heavily affected by the 2010 Haitian earthquake. World Hands Alliance and Homes for Haitians are also partners in the project.

Each home has 40 square meters of interior space, a toilet, shower facility, kitchen facility, and water storage capacity. Twenty will be built in each of the communities of Mellier and Carrefour.
