Nearly 1.4 million children are at risk of starving to death. Over the five-year period since 2011, international support to mine action peaked in 2012 at $498.9 million, followed by a sharp decline in the next years all the way down to $352 million in 2015.

The top ten donors to mine action between 2011-2015 were: the United States, Japan, the European Union, Norway, Germany, Australia, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Sweden.

17 November 2015 - To support basic education in South Sudan, the Norwegian government today announced a $5.8 million donation to the country at a ceremony held in Juba.

The donation, which will be channeled through UNICEF over a two-year period, follows a decision by the Norwegian government to make education a main priority in its development assistance programmes.

According to Tone Tinnes, Norway’s Ambassador to South Sudan, her country increased support to education worldwide this year and selected four countries with which to work.

Norway is providing USD 20 million (NOK 150 million) in emergency aid to the civilian population in South Sudan. ‘Nearly 6.5 million South Sudanese have been affected by the humanitarian crisis that has resulted from the violent political power struggle in South Sudan.
