HARGEISA, Somalia, April 28 (KUNA) A Kuwaiti medical team on Friday checked 600 patients in the region of Somaliland, Somalia, and provided medical supplies for them.
The Shifaa (healing) medical team was keen to treat a large number of patients in the region as it visited patients' houses, and paid for costs of their treatment.
The team has provided a local hospital with medicines and medical equipment for more than 300 children. Meanwhile, health minister of Somaliland Soleeban Ahmad extolled Kuwait's humanitarian support for the region.
KUWAIT, March 12 (KUNA) -- President of the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) Dr. Abdullah Al-Maatouq on Sunday announced the launch of a wide-scale campaign to help the people affected by famine in Somalia.
Al-Maatouq, also an Amiri Diwan Advisor and vice-chairman of the Cairo-based International Islamic Council for Da'wa (preaching), said in a statement IICO allocated USD 500,000 to provide medicine and urgent food supplies, and dig water wells to help counter drought facing some African countries including Somalia.
KUWAIT, Nov 6 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) announced on Friday it was continuing the provision of humanitarian assistance to the Yemeni refugees in the state of Puntland in Somalia in coordination with the Somali authorities.
Head of the the KRCS' mission Abdulrahman Al-Oun said in a press statement that the KRCS' efforts would keep flowing for the relief of Yemeni refugees in Somalia as well as to help Somalis displaced from Yemen as a result of the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in that country.
KUWAIT, Aug 18 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's prominent contributions to the humanitarian field had an international impact and recognition, as the UN celebrates the World Humanitarian Day on Wednesday August 19.

KHARTOUM, June 18 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait-based International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) and Social Reform Society (SRS) have launched a campaign to provide Yemeni refugees in Somalia and Djibouti with their basic needs.
In a press statement, IICO Director General Salem Hamada said that campaign would offer hundreds of Yemeni refugees and even poor Somalis relief aid at a total cost of USD 350,000.

SANAA, July 6 (KUNA) -- Yemeni Foreign Minister Abu Bakr Al-Qirbi said on Saturday that his country is giving shelter to more than one million refugees and illegal immigrants, mostly from the African continent. Al-Qirbi also called, during the opening of a national refugee workshop, on the international community to support the government of Yemen regarding the refugee issue.
The minister also affirmed his country's commitment to humanitarian aspect of the issue, despite the current heavy challenges.
The State of Kuwait affirmed Tuesday unlimited support for Somalia to help the African country rebuild itself following two decades of conflict. ANKARA, Dec 24 (KUNA) -- Turkey dispatched 27 tons of humanitarian aid to Somalia on Monday amid efforts approved by the Turkish government to help in easing out the suffering of Somali people.
In a statement, Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) sent 27 tons of humanitarian assistance to Somalia, via a cargo plane provided by Turkish Airlines.

WAM Mogadishu, 15th March 2012 (WAM) -- The Khalifa bin Zayed Charity Foundation has built 20 basins in valleys at south west Hargeisa, and drilled 14 water wells at north east Hargeisa and nine water wells and watershed basins at Boru.
The water projects were carried out in collaboration with the Somali Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources.

MOGADISHU, Oct 19 (KUNA) -- A ship boarding 650 tons of relief supplies sent by Kuwait to victims of famine and drought has docked at the harbor of the Somali capital Mogadishu, the Chairman of Kuwait Red Crescent Society said on Wednesday.
Barjas Homoud Al-Barjas said in a statement that the relief supplies were dispatched to the African country in line with instructions of the top political leaders, namely His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah who has personally followed up on national humanitarian missions aimed at ending this tragedy.
KUWAIT, Sept 14 (KUNA) -- Kuwait relief aid effort is continuing in Somalia despite the harsh conditions, said the head of the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) Dr. Abdullah Al-Matouq on Wednesday.
He told KUNA that the IICO delegation had returned to Somalia to deliver relief aid to some 200,000 Somalis affected by the drought and hunger hitting the Horn of Africa region.
The official thanked the Kuwaiti leadership and people on their generous offerings to their Somali brethren but stressed that things were far from being normal.

(with photos) KUWAIT, Aug 28 (KUNA) -- The continuous Kuwaiti aid relief being sent to Somalia has resulted in a sense of gratitude among the Somali government and its people, Chairman of the Kuwait Red Crescent Barjas Al-Barjas said Sunday. This assistance comes at a troublesome period in the history of Somalia and represents only the first phase of donations ordered by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Al-Barjas told KUNA.

(WITH SOC-KUWAIT-SOMALIA-KRCS) MOGADISHU, Aug 28 (KUNA) -- Teams of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society have continued delivering aid supplies to relocated Somalis who have settled at makeshift shanty towns where necessities for survival have been made available by the KRCS and relief agencies of other nations. Abdul Rahman Al-Aoun, the head of the KRCS expedition to Somalia, said the volunteers distributed rice, cooking oil and powder milk to hundreds of families at the camps of Adel Deir and Eil Hindi.

KRCS President Barjas Al-Barjas told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the plane was ordered upon directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for the Somali people.
KUWAIT, Aug 17 (KUNA) -- Kuwait-based charity organisation, Direct Aid, said it is providing 60,000 warm meals daily to victims of severe drought and famine in Somalia.
These meals are being distributed at 20 of a total 55 centres scattered throughout nations of the Horn of Africa, including Kenya and Somalia, in collaboration with UNICEF and the OCHA, said head of the immediate response team of the charity formerly known as, Africa Muslims Committee, Nabil Al-Terkait.
