BERBERA, 31st July, 2018 (WAM) -- The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has concluded its third relief operation in Somalia's Berbera region, distributing food aid packages to 10,000 families affected by the drought.
PUNTLAND, Somalia,1st July, 2018 (WAM) -- Teams from the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation have begun the distribution of emergency relief assistance to Somali families in villages in Puntland State, northeastern Somalia, as part of phase two of a campaign launched to assist those ravaged by drought in the region. 900 tonnes of food aid is being delivered to help recipients endure the hardships caused by the drought that has plagued their land and harmed farms and livestock.
JUBALAND, Somalia, 25th June, 2018 (WAM) -- The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has distributed 824 tonnes of food items to 6,000 families - around 30,000 people - in the drought-stricken area of Jubaland in Somalia.

The food aid distribution is in line with the month-long Ramadan Mir campaign, as per the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
ABU DHABI, 3rd June, 2018 (WAM) -- The value of relief and humanitarian programmes that were implemented due to the directives of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, through the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, from 1993 to 2003, reached AED1.8 billion, which benefited 21 countries, while its developmental projects, valued at AED595.7 million benefitted Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo.

Dr. Abdirizak Yusuf Ahmed, Deputy Under-Secretary and Director of Medical Services at the Ministry of Health in Somalia, has received, at the UAE Embassy in Mogadishu, the medical supplies from the ERC delegation situated in the country, in the presence of embassy officials.

MOGADISHU, 23th October, 2017 (WAM) -- A UAE flying hospital arrived in the Somali capital Mogadishu on Monday as part of the UAE's massive medical efforts to treat hundreds of Somalis injured in last Saturday’s terror attack.
The flying hospital is carrying large supplies of medicines, medical equipment and logistics to increase the capacity of the already overwhelmed Somali hospitals in order to handle a large number of wounded, who are packed in the hospital corridors.
MOGADISHU, 21st October, 2017 (WAM) -- The second UAE medical team has arrived in the Somali capital Mogadishu to supervise the implementation of directives given the UAE leadership to provide medical treatment for 100 of victims of the recent terrorist bombing in Mogadishu.
Upon its arrival, the medical team assessed the medical condition of the injured and a number of cases were admitted to the Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Mogadishu for urgent medical treatment .

ABU DHABI, 25th April, 2017 (WAM) -- A ship carrying 4,259 tonnes of relief items from the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, left the UAE on Tuesday for Berbera Port in Somalia to support the people who have been displaced and affected by famine and to enhance their humanitarian situation.
The aid, which is worth AED10.3 million, includes food, shelter materials, clothes, blankets, mattresses, and children's health supplies.
SHARJAH, 23rd April, 2017 (WAM) -- Sharjah Charity International donated AED4 million for the relief campaign targeting vulnerable people in Somalia, under the slogan "For You Somalia", which aims to eliminate suffering caused by the drought crisis affecting large areas of the country.
The campaign is an implementation of the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in co-operation with the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, and all UAE charity organisations and foundations.
Dar Al Ber Society, DABS, has launched an emergency relief campaign for the benefit of the Somali people hit by a massive famine and drought that reportedly killed many people and domestic animals.
Khalfan Khalifa Al Mazrouie, Chairman of DABS, said the relief drive is a translation of the UAE charitable and humanitarian policy, and is in line with the vision of the prudent leadership.

HARGEISA, 6th September, 2015 (WAM) -- The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has concluded its humanitarian aid campaign in the city of Hargeisa in Somalia, after distributing thousands of food packages to families affected by the drought in many of the country's coastal and mountainous areas.
