La Red de Sistemas de Alerta Temprana contra la Hambruna (FEWS NET) monitorea las tendencias de precios de granos básicos en los países vulnerables a la inseguridad alimentaria. Para cada país y región FEWS NET, el Boletín Mensual de Precios proporciona un conjunto de graficas que muestran los precios mensuales del año actual en mercados urbanos seleccionados, así permitiendo a los usuarios comparar las tendencias actuales con respecto al promedio de los últimos cinco años y el año anterior, e indicando tendencias de la temporada anterior.

Geneva – IOM reports that 107,546 migrants and refugees have entered Europe by sea through 18 December, roughly a 5 per cent decrease from the 112,836 arriving during the same period last year.

Arrivals this year to Greece and Spain are at 60,363 and 24,976, respectively, (85,339 combined) accounting for just over 79 per cent of the regional total, with the balance arriving in much smaller numbers to Italy, Malta and Cyprus. Arrivals to Greece are running just shy of twice 2018’s totals from this time, while arrivals to Spain are less than half last year’s arrivals.

Flooding risks persist across eastern Africa, while South Africa remains drier-than-average

  1. Continued above-average rainfall has triggered flooding across eastern Africa. Rain is forecast to continue next week maintaining high flood risk.

  2. Locust swarms continue to affect parts of Sudan, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Somalia, and Yemen. The chance of a lotus outbreak has increased in north and eastern areas.

This support will focus on food assistance in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, support to forcibly displaced Venezuelans and host communities, and essential needs and nutritional support to Haiti. This support package comes in addition to the €88.548 million funding already announced earlier this year and includes an extra €286,000 to support epidemics preparedness in dengue-affected Central American countries.
