Cette décision a été annoncée par le président de la Confédération Didier Burkhalter à New York, en marge de l’Assemblée générale de l’ONU.

Switzerland is helping half a million refugees in West Africa with a total of CHF 2.6 million. The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is making this sum available to the relief operations of the UN refugee organisation UNHCR (CHF 1 million), the UN World Food Programme WFP (CHF 1.1 million) as well as the aid organisation Médecins sans Frontières - Switzerland (CHF 500,000).
