Goma et Bukavu rapportent encore plus de 50% de l'ensemble des cas de choléra notifiés chaque semaine sur l'ensemble du pays. Une investigation rapide menée dans la ville de Bukavu a permis d’objectiver la persistance de points de puisage d’eau non proté-gés "bizola", hauts lieux de transmission des cas de choléra dans la ville de Bukavu.

Le 13 août, des hommes armés ont pris d'assaut un restaurant dans la capitale Ouagadougou et ont tué 18 personnes et blessé 22 autres, selon le gouvernement. Deux attaquants ont été tués. Une attaque similaire dans un café voisin en janvier 2016 avait fait 30 morts.

Terror attack kills at least 18 people
On 13 August, gunmen stormed a restaurant in the capital Ouagadougou and killed 18 people, and wounding 22 others, according to the government. Two attackers were killed. A similar attack on a nearby cafe in January 2016 killed 30 people.

Aid workers carry out life-saving often in dangerous and difficult circumstances. Over the past 16 years, 427 aid workers were killed, wounded or kidnapped in West and Central Africa. The number of victims follows a worrying upward trend with spikes in attacks recorded in recent years. Countries with the highest number of victims are the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic, Nigeria, Chad and Mali. The majority of victims were national staff, who account for the bulk of humanitarian workers and are often the most exposed to risks

Le ministre de la santé de la RDC, Félix Kabange a lancé mercredi à Kinshasa, la campagne de recrutement des experts congolais qui seront formés pour aller stabiliser l’épidémie à virus Ebola en Afrique de l’Ouest. Cette demande émane de l’OMS et l’Union Africaine, compte tenu de l’expérience de la RDC dans la prise en charge de cette maladie les trois dernières décennies, a déclaré Félix Kabange Numbi.

Cette formation de 10 jours regroupe 21 formateurs dont 17 nationaux et 4 internationaux en plus de 35 formateurs. Elle consiste à la validation des modules qui consistera à la formation des équipes de riposte contre les épidémies dont Ebola en RDC et en Afrique de l’Ouest. Ainsi formées, ces équipes de formateurs seront envoyées en Sierra-Leone, Guinée et au Liberia. Ces équipes multidisciplinaires comprendront notamment des épidémiologistes, laborantins, pharmaciens, data managers, hygiénistes, psychologues cliniciens.
