I. Introduction

  1. Dans une lettre datée du 20 décembre 2010 (S/2010/661), le Président du Conseil de sécurité m’a informé que les membres du Conseil avaient décidé de proroger le mandat du Bureau des Nations Unies pour l’Afrique de l’Ouest (UNOWA) jusqu’au 31 décembre 2013 et m’a demandé de faire rapport tous les six mois sur l’exécution du mandat révisé du Bureau.

In a letter dated 20 December 2010 (S/2010/661), the President of the Security Council informed me that the members of the Council had agreed to extend the mandate of the United Nations Office for West Africa (UNOWA) until 31 December 2013 and requested me to report on the implementation of the revised mandate of UNOWA every six months.

1) With seasonal rains ending and as vegetation dries out, locust swarms have formed in Chad and are expected to form in Niger and Mali. Swarms are expected to migrate towards the north as well as potentially into cropping areas in western/central Mali.

Dans le cadre de l’animation du dispositif de veille régional, s’est tenue à Dakar/Sénégal, du 04 au 06 septembre 2012, la concertation régionale sur les perspectives agricoles et alimentaires au Sahel et en Afrique l’Ouest.

Organisée par le CILSS, la rencontre a enregistré la participation des délégués de ses pays membres, des représentants des partenaires techniques et financiers (FAO, FEWS NET, JRC/UE-GSU, PAM, FFP/USAID, ECHO, OXFAM, ACDI, Coopération Française), la société civile (APESS), l’UEMOA et des cadres et experts du CILSS.
