Freetown, Dec. 22, 2015 (MOHS) – DFID Ebola Team Leader, Lee Ferguson has handed over the 100 Beds Moyamba Ebola Treatment Centre site manned by Medicos Del Mundo to the Moyamba District Health Management Team at a ceremony held at Kayamba Chiefdom, Moyamba district.

Handing over the facility, DFID Team Leader, Lee Ferguson commended the people of Moyamba for the warm reception accorded them during their stay in the district.

Freetown, Dec. 22, 2015 (MOHS) – The President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma has officially launched the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) Lessons Learnt Report at the Miatta Conference Hall, Youyi Building, Freetown.

The Result came out from a study initiated and conducted by the National Ebola Response Centre (NERC), with support from FAO, Focus 1000, UNAIDS, UNFPA, UNICEF, UNOCHA, UN Women, WFP and WHO.

Launching the MCH Week on the theme: “Healthy Families, Healthy Future”, the Director of Health Systems, Planning, Policy and Information, Dr. Samuel Kargbo on behalf of the Ministry thanked health workers and development partners for their efforts in the fight to contain the Ebola virus disease and to maintain zero infection.

As government continues to show commitment towards the relocation of flood victims, President Ernest Bai Koroma Friday 13 November completed a conducted tour to the temporary housing construction site for the affected families at Mile 6 Village on the outskirts of Freetown.

The president also made on the spot visit at the Freetown Central Lorry Park and the Hastings Airport. His visit at Mile 6 was in sync with government’s aspirations to provide a safe living environment for the September 16 flood victims in Freetown.

Freetown, Nov. 9, 2015 (MOHS) – President Koroma has re-echoed the end of the Ebola outbreak with the leadership of the Sierra Leone Parliament to facilitate the pronouncement of the end of the State of Emergency in the country, and calls for sustainable zero.

He made this statement on Saturday November 7, 2015 at the Bintumani Hotel Conference Hall after the declaration of the end of the Ebola outbreak by the WHO Country Representative, Dr. Anders Nordstrom.

Freetown, Nov. 2, 2015 (MOHS) – Senior officials from the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, officials from WHO, DFID and the Commonwealth have concluded a four-day assessment tour in six districts to get first-hand knowledge on the level of preparedness of District Health Management Teams (DHMTs) ahead of the NERC/MOHS transition phase.

The six districts include Port Loko, Kambia, Bombali, Koinadugu, Tonkolili in the north and Kono in the east.
