The UN has confirmed that two Bangladeshi peacekeepers working for the UN Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) and 13 from UNAMSIL were on board the flight, which crashed near Cotonou.

The Government has announced that only diplomatic vehicles or those with special permission granted by authorities will be allowed to circulate during the day of the Presidential elections on 21 December. The borders and the airport will be closed from midnight 20 December to midnight 21 December. The results of the elections are expected within 3-4 days of the elections.

FREETOWN, Dec 16 (Reuters) - Sierra Leone's army is on alert after reports that Liberian rebels may be moving heavy weapons towards the border in a bid to escape a U.N.-led disarmament operation, an army commander said on Tuesday.

The reports highlighted fears that Sierra Leone, at peace since civil war ended in 2002, could be plunged back into instability if weapons from Liberia's recently-ended conflict slip across the border between the two West African nations.
