On Monday 16 October 2017 the Council adopted the EU Annual Report on Human Rights And Democracy in the World in 2016.
2016 was a challenging year for human rights and democracy, with a shrinking space for civil society and complex humanitarian and political crises emerging. In this context, the European Union showed leadership and remained strongly committed to promote and protect human rights and democracy across the world.
WaPOR: database dissemination portal and APIs
The FAO portal to monitor Water Productivity through Open access of Remotely sensed derived data (WaPOR) monitors and reports on agriculture water productivity over Africa and the Near East.
It provides open access to the water productivity database and its thousands of underlying map layers, it allows for direct data queries, time series analyses, area statistics and data download of key variables associated to water and land productivity assessments.
DUBAI, 19th October, 2016 (WAM) -- Dubai Cares, DC, today announced the allocation of AED 73,470,000 (US$ 20,000,000) for the International Network for Education in Emergencies, INEE, which helps promote access to quality, safe, and relevant education for persons affected by crises.
The commitment by DC, which is part of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's Global Initiatives, will initially cover three programmes in Lebanon, Niger and Sierra Leone. Future programmes will also be announced in the coming year.

Abu Dhabi, 2 October 2014: Upon the directives of the UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, HH General Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, ordered the provision of an amount of AED 18.3 million in response to the current outbreak of Ebola in West Africa, particularly in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia to be channeled through the United Nations Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF).
