Within the framework of the South Africa - European Union Strategic Partnership, a Political Dialogue meeting at Ministerial level was held in Brussels, Belgium, on 11 May 2010. The meeting was co-chaired by Baroness Catherine ASHTON, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission and H.E. Ms.
Khartoum - International Relations and Cooperation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, accompanied by Minister for Monitoring and Evaluation in the Presidency, Mr Collin Chabane and senior government officials have arrived at Khartoum today, 14 September 2006.
During her visit Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane will hold discussions with her Sudanese counterpart on Post Conflict Reconstruction and Development (PCRD), the conflict in Darfur, the 2010 election and other matters related to the implementation of the Sudan Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA).

Pretoria, 21 August 2008- The South African Government will on Friday 22 August 2008 undertake a humanitarian assistance mission to the Abyei region of the Sudan comprising 40 tons of non perishable items, including tents, blankets, mosquito nets, inflatable mattresses, food and clothes.
The humanitarian assistance to Sudan is a joined effort between the South African Government and the Gift of the Givers Foundation (International Humanitarian Organisation).

Pretoria - The Department of Foreign Affairs, together with the University of South Africa (UNISA) will co-host a training programme for the Sudanese People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) cadres in Pretoria from Tuesday, 29 March to Sunday, 10 April 2005.

1. At the invitation of H.E. President Omer Hassan Ahmed Al Beshir of the Republic of the Sudan, H.E. President Thabo Mvuyelwa Mbeki of the Republic of South Africa paid an official visit to the Republic of the Sudan from 30 December 2004 to 02 January 2005.
The South African Government, as Chair of the African Union, welcomes the recent signing on 20 July 2002 of the Machakos Protocol and Framework Agreement reached between the Government of Sudan and the Sudanese Peoples' Liberation Movement/Army, in Machakos, Kenya, as a significant step towards peace in Sudan.
