October 15, 2018 (KHARTOUM) - The government of North Darfur State on Monday has approved a plan to turn the Internally Displaced Persons’ (IDPs) camps into permanent residential areas.
The plan proposes to establish a technical committee to conduct the necessary surveys to turn the camps into new residential compounds to accommodate the IDPs who wish to integrate into their current communities.
October 12, 2018 (KHARTOUM) - The government of South Kordofan State said it has identified 40 villages for voluntary return pointing to the return of large numbers of residents from the rebel-controlled areas.
The semi-official SMC has quoted the state humanitarian aid commissioner Khidir Tawil as saying three committees including inside the state and at the federal level and abroad were formed to facilitate the voluntary return efforts.

October 1, 2018 (KHARTOUM) - The Sudanese President Omer al-Bashir has renewed calls to rebel groups to renounce violence stressing his government’s keenness to achieve comprehensive peace in the country.
Speaking before the National Legislature on Monday, al-Bashir said his government has been seeking to achieve peace, pointing to the national dialogue and the unilateral cessation of hostilities.
September 28, 2018 (NEW YORK) - A high-level meeting on Darfur Friday decided the creation of a Group of Friends to back this transition the transition from peacekeeping to peace-building and development in Darfur.
The decision was taken during the high-level meeting held on the margins of the General Assembly’s annual general debate, convened by the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed and the African Union Commissioner for Peace and Security, Ambassador Smail Chergui.
September 27, 2018 (KHARTOUM) - Sudan’s Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) Thursday agreed UN initiative to deliver humanitarian assistance to civilians in the rebel-controlled areas in the Blue Nile and South Kordofan states.
In a press conference held in Khartoum, HAC General Commissioner Ahmed Mohamed Adam made the government official declaration adding they received the initiative earlier this year for the first time and was renewed last June.
September 24, 2018 (KHARTOUM) The Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) in South Kordofan said 74,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) have returned to their original villages in the state during the previous period.
In press statements on Sunday, HAC commissioner in South Kordofan Khidir Tawil Hussein said the voluntary return of IDPs is ongoing, stressing they would provide the returnees with the basic services including water, health and education.
September 24, 2018 (KHARTOUM) Sudanese Presidential Assistant Faisal Hassan Ibrahim Monday announced the government has begun to deliver humanitarian aid to rebel-held areas in the South Kordofan and Blue Nile states.
Speaking at a workshop on the international standard framework for humanitarian assistance in Khartoum, Ibrahim said the government has accepted the US proposal to allow humanitarian access to the Two Areas but the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/North (SPL-M) rejected it.
September 23, 2018 (KHARTOUM) - The third and final phase of the exit strategy of the hybrid peacekeeping mission in Darfur (UNAMID) would be completed within two years, said Sudan’s Foreign Ministry Under-Secretary Abdel-Ghani al-Na’im.
In press statements on Saturday, al-Nai’m pointed out that Darfur’s five states became safe and it is now hosting large numbers of refugees from other countries.
September 19, 2018 (JUBA) - The Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC) has urged South Sudanese women to be strongly involved in the peace implementation process to ensure its successful achievement to put the country in the path of reconciliation and development.
The call was made by JMEC Ag. Deputy Chief of staff- Strategy, during a women peace march held in Juba on Wednesday in the presence of Presidential Advisor for gender Rachel Nyabak who was the guest of honour.
September 19, 2018 (KHARTOUM) - The Sudan Liberation Movement-led by Abdel Wahid al-Nur (SLM-AW) declared a three-month unilateral cessation of hostilities to allow humanitarian access to civilians in landslide-affected areas in Jebel Marra.
Torrential rains and landslides killed at least 21 people in Sampali area in eastern Jebel Marra on 7 September. However, the Sudanese authorities and UNAMID were not able to reach the rebel-controlled area due to the security situation there.
September 18, 2018 (KHARTOUM) - A delegation including a number of EU Ambassadors to Khartoum, US Chargé d’Affaires and the UN Mine Action Office would visit Blue Nile State to see ongoing arrangements to begin the clean-up of landmines, said Sudan’s National Center for Mine Action (NCMA).
Director of the NCMA Amer Abdel-Sadiq Abu Zaid has revealed ongoing arrangements to implement a demining plan in areas identified as dangerous in the Blue Nile State.
September 17, 2018 (KHARTOUM) - The protection unit at Sudan’s Commission of Refugees (SCR) has demanded the international community to support the refugees in the east African nation saying Sudan has met all its international commitments towards them.
The director of SCR protection unit in the eastern states Al-Sir Khaled said the registered number of refugees in eastern Sudan camps is over 90,000 refugees.
September 8, 2018 (KHARTOUM) - The German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has granted €10 million Euros for a project to enhance livelihoods in South Darfur State.
The grant has been awarded to the World Vision Sudan through the German Development Bank to implement a three-year livelihoods project in South Darfur.
September 7, 2018 (KHARTOUM) - The United Nations special envoy to Libya Ghassan Salameh has called on the UN Security Council (UNSC) to seek to implement the border agreement signed between Sudan, Libya and Chad.
More than 60 people have been killed and 159 injured in renewed fighting among militias in Tripoli last month. On 4 September, UN mission brokered a ceasefire between the major parties to the conflict.
August 31, 2018 (EL-FASHER) - Commissioner of El-Fasher locality al-Tigani Abdallah Salih said 85,600 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) have returned to their original villages in Korma and El-Fasher.
Speaking at the media forum of North Darfur Ministry of Culture and Information on Thursday in El-Fasher, Salih pointed out that 80% of the returnees have cultivated their lands during the farming season.
He added more than 11,000 out of 22,000 students have returned alongside their families to their original areas from Zam Zam camp for IDPs.
August 28, 2018 (KHARTOUM) - The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) said it has arrested twenty-eight illegal migrants the on border triangle among Libya, Sudan and Egypt on Monday.
Following the fall of Muammar Gaddafi’s 40-year-rule in 2011, Libya has slid into chaos and has become the most important transit country for illegal migrants to Europe.
In press statements on Tuesday, Director of Guidance and Services Department at the RSF Murtada Osman Abu al-Gasim said the 28 illegal migrants are Sudanese nationals, pointing out that they were heading towards the Libyan territory.
August 26, 2018 (KHARTOUM) – The South Darfur state implored upon South Sudan government to provide support to sites hosting 50,000 refugees who fled the conflict in the war-torn nation.
The acting governor Taha Abdallah told the official Sudan News Agency (SUNA) that South Sudanese refugees who are distributed across the localities of al-Salam Baleel and Buram share with the citizens of his state all public services.
August 18, 2018 (KHARTOUM) - The government negotiating team for the Two Areas talks with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/North (SPLM-N) said the next round of talks must be held according to the agreed references.
The semi-official Sudan Media Center (SMC) has quoted the member of negotiating team Abdel-Rahman Abu Median as saying the government wouldn’t accept pre or new conditions from any party.
August 13, 2018 (KHARTOUM) - Sudan Monday has proposed to hold a joint meeting of the IGAD foreign ministers and their counterparts from the Troika countries to discuss ways to support the negotiations for peace in South Sudan, which began its final round in Khartoum.
The proposition was made public by the foreign ministry spokesperson Gharib-Allah Khidir in a statement released after a meeting between the foreign minister El-Dirdeiry Mohamed Ahmed and the U.S., Britain and Norway as well as the European Union ambassadors to Khartoum on Monday.
