The UNICEF representative in Sudan, Nils Kasterberg, said that a two day workshop has been organized on child protection to provide a common platform for dialogue between the United Nations, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), civil society members and partners from neighboring Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The workshop aims to highlight child protection issues and discuss constructive methods on how to best address them.

The UNHCR transported yesterday about 500 refugees whom were chased to Lobona as a result of the recent LRA attacks on western Equatoria in preparation for sending them to their home-towns.

A large number of the escapers from the LRA attacks moved to Juba town lately. The speaker of southern Sudan legislative assembly, James Wani Igga, received/ welcomed the refugees at their arrival in Lobona.

The UNHCR and WFP assure that they will transport more refugees in groups, to their home-towns.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees' UNHCR, representative in Juba Geoff Worldly has confirmed to Miraya FM that a new wave of about 500 Congolese refugees arrived last week in Western Equatoria State.

The refugees fled the, Lord's Resistance Army rebels' attacks and are going to be settled in a Madebi camp.

Mr. Worldly also said there are a non specified number of internally displaced Sudanese due to insecurity near the border with DR Congo.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in southern Sudan has revealed to Miraya FM that relocation of refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo who are recently settled in Yambio is expected to start on Wednesday.

Speaking to Miraya FM the UNHCR assistant representative Geoff Wordley said that the UNHCR together with the Western Equatoria State government recently identified an area in Makpandu in Yambio County to be the new site for the refugees.

The Southern Sudan relief and rehabilitation office (SSRRC) in Western Equatoria State has revealed to Miraya FM that it has received information of new influx of refugees in Iba County, following recent attacks in DR Congo.

The director Lexson Wali said a total of about 500 refugee households have already been registered in Nabanga Payam, Madebe Payam and Buo by the SSRRC officials in the county.

He said plans are underway to analyze the situation on the ground.
