This map illustrates satellite detected possible flood water & saturated soil over Wad Madani, in Al Jazeera State, extracted from Radarsat-2 imagery (12 m) acquired on 18 August 2016. According to satellite derived analysis some areas within Al Jazeera State seem to be flooded. Possible flooded agricultural areas and saturated soils are particularly visible over Southern Al Jazeera Locality. The exact limit of flood waters is uncertain because of the low spatial resolution of the satellite data used for this analysis.

This map illustrates satellite-detected possible flood water & saturated soil over Abu Hamad area in River Nile State, Sudan, extracted from Spot-6 imagery of 14 August 2016. UNOSAT analysis shows an increase of floods water / saturated soil around Nileside west and Abu Tin areas. This analysis has not yet been validated in the field. This map illustrates satellite detected possible flood water & saturated soil over Al Jazeera Area, in Al Jazeera State, extracted from Radarsart-2 imagery (12.5 m) acquired on 18 August 2016. According to satellite derived analysis some areas within Al Jazeera State seem to be flooded. Possible flooded agricultural areas and saturated soils are particularly visible over Eastern Al Jazeera Locality. The exact limit of flood waters is uncertain because of the low spatial resolution of the satellite data used for this analysis.

This map illustrates satellite-detected areas of flood affected land as detected in satellite imagery acquired by the WolrdView-2 satellite on 13 August 2014 in Shendi, Nile State, Sudan. Imagery shows the presence of overflowing on the Nile River. The town of Shendi was inundated by floods caused by heavy rains. Agricultural fields surrounding the town are also affected by varying levels of water and saturated soils.

This map illustrates the total August rainfall accumulation for East Africa, derived from the CMORPH precipitation dataset at a spatial resolution of approximately 10km for this region, and was calculated using microwave and infrared data from geostationary satellites. It is possible that precipitation levels may have been underestimated for local areas, and is not a substitute for ground station measurements.
