Vienna, 20 November 2012 – "Austria responds to the humanitarian crisis in Uganda and South Sudan by making 1.45 million euros available", Vice-Chancellor and Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger explained after the meeting of the Ministerial Council on 20 November. "Our contribution is intended to provide help in critical situations that are not in the limelight of the media but still require our political attention and humanitarian commitment."

Austria supports the Security Council initiative for strengthening humanitarian international law

Vienna, 30 January 2009 - "The protection of humanitarian international law is one of the priorities of Austria's work in the UN Security Council. Therefore, we very much welcome the fact that France, currently presiding over the Council, has initiated a discussion on this issue", said Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger in connection with yesterday's first fundamental debate on the "respect for humanitarian international law" in New York.
