The UAE has reinforced its international humanitarian relief approach, which is based upon close coordination with countries and communities entitled to receive its aid, through the launch, by the wise leadership, of an initiative to create a national committee to rescue those affected by the floods in Kerala, India.
The initiative aims to involve the public and private sectors, as well as representatives of the Indian community.
Upon the directives of the wise leadership, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the monitoring of H.H.
The UAE Embassy in Khartoum held a reception to inaugurate the programmes of the Sheikha Fatima Global Humanitarian Campaign for treating women and children and the Fatima bint Mubarak Volunteering Programme in Sudan.
Hamad Mohammed Al Junaibi, UAE Ambassador to Sudan, and his embassy’s staff received the reception’s guests, which included Ahmed Mohammed Adam, Humanitarian Aid Commissioner in Sudan, a delegation from the General Women’s Union, the campaign’s supervisors, and invited members of the diplomatic corps in Sudan.
The Zayed Giving Convoy has completed the installation of 40 medical aid camps in various Sudanese villages, which were supervised by a UAE-Sudanese voluntary medical team, as part of its campaign to treat a million children and elderly members of society, under the theme, 'Giving is Happiness'.
The Zayed Giving Initiative has started its humanitarian mission in Sudanese villages to provide the best diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive services for children and the elderly under the supervision of a specialised medical team of doctors from the UAE and voluntary doctors from Sudan.
The mission is in line with the ‘Year of Giving’ initiative launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in co-ordination with the Sudanese Volunteer Centre and ministries of health and social security.

El Gadaref, Sudan - As part of the UAE efforts to provide aid to victims of floods which hit the Sudanese State of Gadaref, a delegation of the Red Crescent Authority (RCA) distributed blankets, tents and foodstuff to the displaced persons in Banat and Mafaza areas. According to RCA Secretary General Dr. Mussa Saleh Al Taei, the RCA delegation provided aid to more than 2, 500 families in three areas. Crossing a distance of 600 kilometres, the delegation battled transport odds and succeeded to deliver aid to the needy, as directed by the UAE leadership, said Dr. Al Taei.

Dubai Cares, a charitable establishment with the aim of educating one million children in developing countries, announced Wednesday details of its latest joint venture with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) for the launch of primary education programmes in Sudan, which will benefit an estimated 700,000 children over the next 10 years.
The announcement marks Dubai Care's second partnership with UNICEF following an earlier announcement in February of joint primary education programmes in Djibouti.

Juba - As part of a major relief programme ordered by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Red Crescent Authority (RCA), the team of RCA continued its humanitarian mission in by providing relief and medical services.
The ophthalmic team specializing in eye surgery has begun conducting eye operations for eye patients in South Sudan.
Juba- As part of a major relief programme ordered by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Red Crescent Authority (RCA), a relief plane carrying medical supplies arrived here Thursday.
"This consignment consists mainly of medical supplies which are to be distributed to several hospitals in Southern Sudan", said Ahmed Abdullah Al Ali, Head of the RCA delegation which accompanied the plane.
A number of officials from the Government of Southern Sudan (GoSS) were present to receive the plane.
The UAE will offer two loans worth Dh275 million for financing water projects in Sudan. Mohammed Saif Al Suweidi, Acting Director General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) and visiting Sudanese Minister of Finance and Economy Awad Ahmed Al Jaz signed the loan agreements on Tuesday.
Al Suweidi said the first Dh184 million loan will be used to complete the Marawi Dam in north Sudan which the ADFD has previously extended Dh551 million for the project. The project will help Sudan fill the power deficit by producing 1,250 megawatts.
The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) will begin airlifting relief supplies to Southern Sudan next week. Acting on the directives of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the RCA, the charity body will begin airlifting medical equipment, medicines, foodstuff and other items as part of a grand mission to help the displaced person in Southern Sudan. As part of the mission, three aircrafts laden with the relief supplies will leave UAE to Juba, the capital of the autonomous Government of Southern Sudan.

UAE Red Crescent Authority is continuing its humanitarian activities for people affected by floods in Kasala and North Kurdofan in the Sudan. The UAE grand relief mission for Darfur began yesterday with the arrival of two aircrafts carrying 5,000 tents for the displaced persons in Darfur.
