While big emergencies with millions of victims dominate newspaper headlines, every year WFP responds to dozens of other "minor" emergencies that often go overlooked. The numbers may be smaller, but the misery is the same, which is why WFP Emergency Response expert Amy Horton says there's no such thing as a minor emergency.

ROME-The earthquake in Haiti, the floods in Pakistan and the drought in the Sahel region of Africa were the big emergencies that made headlines in 2010.

But they were only three of the emergency situations to which WFP responded.

IFAD's Executive Board concludes meeting in Rome

Rome, 15 September 2008 - IFAD's Executive Board approved more than US$177.41 million in loans and US$60.235 million in grants for twelve programmes and projects that will improve the lives of the rural poor in developing countries.

(Geneva, 17 July): Six months after the launch of the Humanitarian Appeal 2007, the United Nations, the International Organisation for Migration, and 220 non-governmental aid organisations still require $2.5 billion to respond to the world's most severe crises.

Action Against Hunger is calling on the Heads of State for international mobilization and determined action to end hunger. As international experts in the fight against hunger and malnutrition, Action Against Hunger wishes to highlight that:
