VEHICLE HITS LANDMINE IN TONJ COUNTY... On 10 April at 8 p.m., a Terra Firma vehicle hit a landmine 80km southeast of Tonj. The five passengers, two expatriates and three Sudanese, were wounded and transported to the ICRC Lopiding hospital near Lokichokio. Two Sudanese staff are still in a coma at the time of writing. Terra Firma is a road constructor contracted by some relief organizations in southern Sudan.

ADDIS ABABA, April 24 (Reuter) - Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi has warned Sudan to expect a tough response to any ''hostile moves.''

''The Ethiopian government and people held no ill-feelings towards the Sudanese people,'' Meles said in a speech to parliament...Tuesday.

'But one basic fact the Islamist-backed government in Khartoum should recognise is...much as Ethiopia does not want to interfere and create discord with Sudan, Ethiopia will not hesitate to respond in kind to any hostile moves directed against it,'' he said.

OLS NGO RELOCATED FROM TURALEI... Expatriate staff working for Action Internationale Contre la Faim were evacuated from Turalei on 16 April because of interfactional fighting in the area. They were relocated by road to Akak. The staff have to date not returned to the area. At the end of February, an AICF team had been evacuated from Turalei, also for reasons of security.
