CAIRO, June 20 (Reuter) - Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Osman Mohammad Taha arrived in Cairo...Thursday morning and said the Arab summit this weekend would be a good chance for reconciliation with Egypt.

Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir is expected to attend the summit starting Saturday but no one has said if he will meet Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, who says Sudan helped in a plot to kill him in Ethiopia last year.

Sudan has been trying to improve relations with Cairo but Egypt has been wary of Sudanese overtures.

ADDIS ABABA, June 12 (Reuter) - Despite its worsening relations with the Islamic government in Sudan, Ethiopia will not allow its territory to be used by Sudanese rebels, Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said on Wednesday.

Meles accused Khartoum of trying to destabilise the region but said in an interview the Sudanese army was incapable of engaging in a large-scale conflict with its neighbours.

He denied that the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA), the main anti-Khartoum military force, was operating from inside Ethiopia as Sudan alleges.

KHARTOUM, June 11 (Reuter) - Ten Sudanese politicians and trade unionists, including a former vice president and representatives of the traditional parties, have told the government to resign or face the consequences from the people.

NAIROBI, Kenya (Reuter) - Foes and critics of Sudan's government poured scorn Thursday on a peace charter Khartoum signed 24 hours earlier with two rebel factions but which excluded the most successful rebel group.

The main rebel group, John Garang's Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA), vowed to fight on.

Eritrea's ambassador to Kenya, Beyene Russom, said the charter was a worthless piece of paper because Garang, the main actor in the 13-year Sudan conflict, was not party to it.

VEHICLE HITS LANDMINE IN TONJ COUNTY... On 10 April at 8 p.m., a Terra Firma vehicle hit a landmine 80km southeast of Tonj. The five passengers, two expatriates and three Sudanese, were wounded and transported to the ICRC Lopiding hospital near Lokichokio. Two Sudanese staff are still in a coma at the time of writing. Terra Firma is a road constructor contracted by some relief organizations in southern Sudan.
