report World Vision

A delivery of 3,500 tonnes of food for World Vision projects in Tonj county is set to commence from WV Sudan's new logistical base in Kiboko, Northern Uganda. The food will be transported overland by truck convoys over a three month period. Distribution of 2,500 survival kits to people displaced by ongoing fighting in Southern Sudan has just been completed in Twic, north of World Vision's project site in Gogrial. An additional 6,000 survival kits are to be distributed in January to people displaced by fighting around the southern Sudanese city of Juba.

The Australian Government is to give nearly 3-million dollars in aid to Sudan.
The money will fund programs to improve basic living conditions, with a focus on primary health care, access to safe water and basic education.
The Parliamentary Secretary on Foreign Affairs, Kathy Sullivan, says public services in Sudan are in urgent need of rehabilitation because of the effects of 13-years of civil war.
They money will be distributed through non-government organisations and a United Nations agency.

Kampala - The United States has pledged to help Uganda end the Sudan-supported terrorism and to improve protection of the civilians in the north from continued human rights violations.
US Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright, addressing a joint press conference with President Museveni at State House, Nakasero yesterday further said her country was consulting closely with the region as "we work to isolate the Sudanese regime and contain its ability to support terrorism and d estabilize its neighbours."
